MAC (OS X) is excellent

for doing absolutely nothing or extremely trivial tasks and you dont care if you loose everything or anything important.

I'm a computer engineer for 25 -27 years now. M$ stinks cause their design is a piece of marketing bullshit. But OS X is a class on its own.
1. you get the Grey Screens of Death
2. you get to use the terminal (unless you are completely computer illiterate)
3. you cannot move a file with decency
4. it forgets settings
5. network neighborhood just with samba is a joke (sharing files is a laugh)
6. Not all apps uninstall just with a move to trash (too much junk after a while)
7. more cryptic than the disk of phaistos in files and settings spread around
8. dvd failed after 2 years, despite the fact that I was using a firewire external one (it has a timebomb I guess) - note: I clean my machines regularly, no dust, no nothing

Is it tooooo much to expect a system to run for 5 years with no problems. Cause 2-3 years its too short of a lifespan.

Since I enjoy having an certificate to sign my emails, I had installed one in mail. I have one for the past 2 years. Every few (2-3) months, the Mail and the keychain is acting up on their own. Last night was the last night. No more mail for mac. I expect for firefox to give me trouble and the whole thing is formatted to ubuntu ppc. Any version, just keep it as press papier. Not even worth it for the kids.

So back to intel and linux. Its stable.
